Ganesh Visarjan Puja is the sacred Hindu ritual performed to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha at the end of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
The puja is conducted to seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings before his idol is immersed in water, thanking him for his presence in the home and requesting his return the following year with renewed prosperity, wisdom, and the removal of obstacles.

As every custom differs by region, the Vedic standard Ganesh Visarjan follows the steps below:
1. Auspicious Muhurat: The Visarjan should be completed on a “Shubh Muhurat” estimated based on the Hindu Lunar Calendar (Panchang), typically on the chosen day of Anant Chaturdashi or the family’s decided immersion day.
2. Uttar Puja: A final, concluding puja is performed before the idol is moved, offering flowers, akshat, and a final aarti to formally end the period of worship.
3. Aarti and Prayers: A heartfelt aarti is sung, followed by prayers requesting Lord Ganesha for forgiveness for any lapses during the worship and his blessings for the year ahead.
4. Procession: The idol is carried in a procession, often accompanied by dhol beats, chanting of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” and offerings of flowers and sweets along the way.
5. Visarjan (Immersion): The idol is respectfully immersed in a river, lake, sea, or a designated artificial pond, marking the symbolic return of Lord Ganesha to his celestial abode.
