Pitru Paksha is a 15 to 16 day fortnight in the Hindu calendar set aside to remember and honor departed ancestors. During it, families perform
Shradh, offering of food, water and prayers, usually with Tarpan (water and sesame) and, in many families, Pind Daan (offering pindas).
