How to Perform the Ritual of Rahu Ketu Shanti Puja?

Since Rahu and Ketu are sensitive and powerful energies, this puja is preferably performed by learned Vedic Pandits. It follows a number of holy steps:

1. Sankalp (Intention):

The ritual starts with a formal vow, when the devotee declares their name, lineage (Gotra) and the particular reason why the puja is being performed, whether it is health, career, or family harmony.

2. Ganesh & Navgraha Invocation:

Lord Ganesh is first invoked to get rid of any hindrances before the shadow planets are touched, and all the nine planets are then invoked to bring a harmonious heavenly atmosphere.

3. Mantra Japa:

The main procedure in the ceremony is the Mantra of Rahu and Ketu Beej, which is the chanting of the particular mantras.

Rahu mantras are pronounced 18,000 times, Ketu mantras 17,000 times, but in ceremonies of shorter duration, there are symbolic, shorter forms of these mantras.

4. Havan (Sacred Fire):

Sacrifices of black sesame, mustard seed and special herbs are offered to the holy fire. This is the conversion of the negative planetary energies to positive purified energies.

5. Daan (Charity):

To end the ritual, lead, black blankets, seven kinds of grains (Sapta -Dhanya), or blue flowers are given to the needy since Rahu and Ketu are appeased by means of selfless service.
