Vishwakarma Puja is one of the most spiritually enriching Hindu festivals dedicated to the honour of a divine architect of the universe.
The puja is widely performed among engineers, artisans, and labourers in their offices, factories, and workshops. It is time for them to bless their tools and seek blessings for innovation and success.
Vishwakrama Puja is a holy Hindu ritual performed to pay homage to Lord Vishwakarma, who is the son of lord Brahma and the lord of craftsmanship.
According to the Purana, he is the creator of all the wonderful abodes, even the golden city of Lanka, and the Gods’ weapons that are divine.
To the worshippers, this puja is not only a party but also a means of showing their appreciation to machines and talents that keep them alive.
As an accurate day, the day is dedicated to the purification (Shuddhi) of the work environment and the Shastra (tool).
The day is customarily celebrated on Kanya Sankranti, the development of the Sun, and adoring Lord Vishwakarma is expected to bring good fortune, wealth and guarantee the more disciplined working of machines and machines.
The puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across India. Here’s a step-by-step guide to perform Vishwakarma Puja:
1. Cleaning at the workplace: Individuals clean their workshop, tools and equipment thoroughly. It is then followed by the decoration using flowers, lights and rangoli to greet the deity.
2. Idol Installation: An image or idol of lord Vishwakarma placed on a pedestal with lord Ganesha (a remover of obstacles).
3. Tool Consecration (Shastra Puja): It is the most important, during which the tools of work, such as a laptop, pen, or machinery, are positioned near the deity. Then devotees present vermillion (tilak), rice and flowers to them.
4. Chanting and Prayers: To get blessed with productivity and achievement, the pandit recites certain Vishwangarma mantras and recites devotional hymns.
5. Pushpanjali and Aarti: The conclusion of the ceremony is done by offering flowers and a final aarti to the deities for a prosperous professional journey. A prasad is also given out to all the members later.
Vedic Reference: The marriage ceremony is primarily based on the Vivaha Sukta from the Rigveda (Book 10, Hymn 85), which describes the divine marriage of Surya (daughter of the Sun) and is considered the prototype of all Hindu marriages.
