When lord krishna met Radha Rani, she and Gopis were happy because there was greenery all around.

The deity plucked a flower and threw it to Radha Rani. She also threw flowers on Krishna by plucking them.

Later, the gopis also started to throw flowers at each other. After this, the Holi of flowers started everywhere in India.

It occurred on the second day of Shukla paksha of Falgun month. From then, the day was celebrated as an occasion of Phulera dooj.
