Engili Puvvula Bathukamma

Day Two:
Atukula Batukhamma 

Atukula Batukhamma is celebrated on the second day of Batukhamma 2023. It is celebrated on Ashwayuja Padyami. On this day, worshippers offer Atukula and Naivedyam. Flattened rice and jaggery is offered. 

Day Three:
Muddapuvvu Batukhamma 

On the third day of Batukhamma 2023, Muddapuvvu Batukhamma is celebrated. Muddapuvvu Batukhamma is made up of four types of flowers, namely, Mudda Chamanthi, Mudda Banthi flowers, Gunaka Puvvu, and Thangedu Puvvu. Maddapappu and rice are offered as Naivedyam. Rice and dal are also offered. 

Day Four:
Nanabiyyam Batukhamma 

Nanabiyyam Batukhamma is celebrated on the fourth day of Batukhamma 2023. It is celebrated on Ashwayuja tritiya. Worshippers offer Nanina Biyyam (soaked rice) and jaggery on this day.

Day Five:
Atla Batukhamma 

On the fifth day of Batukhamma, Atla Batukhamma is celebrated. Women offer atlu (roti type of food or ‘dosa’) as naivedyam. 

Day Six:
Alaka Batukhamma 

Alka Batukhamma is celebrated on Ashwayuja Panchami. Naivedyam is not prepared on this day. This day is also known as Lalitha Panchami. It is believed that Devi Durga felt hurt on this day. 

Day Seven:
Vepakayala Batukhamma 

Vepakayala batukhamma is celebrated on Ashwayuja sashthi. On this day, worshippers offer Sakinala Pindi is offered as Naivedyam which is in the shape of Vepakaya (Neem fruit). 

Day Eight:
Venna Muddala Batukhamma 

On the eighth day of Batukhamma, Venna Muddala Batukhamma is celebrated. On this day, worshippers offer Naivedyam with butter. Butterballs, ghee, jaggery, and sesame seeds are offered. 

Day Nine:
Saddula Batukhamma 

Sadulla Batukhamma is celebrated on Ashwayuja Ashthami. Five types of rice, namely, curd rice, sesame seed rice, tamarind rice, coconut rice, lemon rice and one sweet, namely, malleda, is offered on this day.

History and Origin of Bathukamma Festival 

Bathukamma 2023 is the festival of life celebrated in the regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Bathukamma festival is celebrated to worship Devi Parvati and thanks her for the abundance of crops and the prosperity generated because of it in the year.
