According to Jain tradition, on this day in the Ashadha month, Indrabhuti Gautam (also known as Gautam Swami) became the first disciple (Ganadhara) of Lord Mahavira, the 24th and final Tirthankar of Jainism. This day is accordingly also known as Treenok Guha Purnima in Jain tradition.
