Marriage Puja

A Marriage Puja (also known as Vivah Puja) is a sacred Hindu wedding ceremony that unites a bride and groom.

It marks the transition from single life to married life, invoking divine blessings, harmony, and prosperity for the couple’s new journey together.

Lord Ganesh Puja

The wedding begins by praying to Lord Ganesh. This removes all negative energies and bad luck from the venue. It ensures a smooth start for all the upcoming ceremonies.

Welcoming the Groom

The bride’s mother welcomes the groom with a traditional Aarti. She playfully pulls his nose to remind him to be humble. This fun custom brings big smiles to everyone present.

The Holy Drink

The groom takes his seat in the mandap. The bride’s family washes his feet to show deep respect. They also offer him a refreshing drink of honey and curd.

Bride’s Entry

The beautiful bride walks to the mandap with her maternal uncles. Everyone sings traditional Gujarati songs to welcome her. It is a very emotional and joyful moment for the family.

Joining Hands

The Pandit ties a sacred thread around the couple’s hands. This symbolises the union of their souls and two families. They look at each other as partners for life.

The Sacred Fire (Agni Puja)

The couple sits together before the holy fire. They offer rice and ghee to seek blessings from the Fire God. The smoke purifies the entire wedding venue.

Mangal Phera & Saptapadi

The couple takes four rounds around the fire for life’s core goals. After this, they take seven holy steps together for lifelong trust. This main ritual completes their legal and spiritual bond.

Sindoor Daan & Mangalsutra

The groom applies red sindoor on the bride’s hair parting. He then ties the sacred Mangalsutra around her neck. This beautiful moment seals their Marriage in front of everyone.

Aashirvaad & Vidaai

The couple touches the feet of all elders to get their love. After this, the emotional Vidaai ceremony takes place. The bride throws rice back over her head as she leaves for her new home.

Final Blessings (Aashirvaad)

• Deity & Altar Setup – Idols/photos of Ganesha and Gauri, Kalash (copper/brass pot), coconuts, mango leaves, red cloth, and a wooden chowki.
• Pooja Essentials – Roli, turmeric powder, chandan (sandalwood paste), akshat (unbroken rice), betel leaves, betel nuts (supari), and mouli (sacred red thread).
• Havan Materials – Havan kund, dry mango wood, ghee, havan samagri mix, camphor (kapoor), and matchboxes.
• Offerings – Fresh flowers, floral garlands, assorted sweets (mithai), five types of seasonal fruits, and dry fruits.
• Sacred Items for Bride & Groom – Sindoor, Mangalsutra, bridal chunri, new clothes for rituals, and janeu (sacred thread for the groom).
• Ritual Liquids – Milk, curd, honey, sugar, and Ganga jal (for Panchamrit).
• Utility Items – Diya, cotton wicks, incense sticks (agarbatti), camphor burner, brass bell, and clean copper plates/bowls.

Performs Vedic rituals spoken in Sanskrit with Hindi explanations. Key highlights include the Jai Mala, Gathbandhan, and highly detailed Saptapadi pheras around the Agni Kund.

South Indian Pandit

Performs rituals according to South Indian traditions (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam). Focuses heavily on Mangalya Dharanam, Kanyadanam, and rituals like Talambralu.

Maharashtrian Pandit

Specializes in your traditions. Guides the couple through the Antarpat (sacred curtain) removal during Mangalashtaka, followed by Kanyadaan and the tying of the Saptapadi.

Bengali Pandit

Expert in Vedic and traditional Bengali regional customs. Conducts rituals like Saat Paak (bride circling the groom 7 times while covering her face with betel leaves), Subho Drishti, and Sindoor Daan.
