The most vital and soul-stirring, the Sunderkand path is a chapter of the Ramayan. It chronicles the heroic life journey of lord hanuman to Lanka, signifying the victory of willpower and devotion.
Chanting the sacred verses is considered to remove evil, instill immense courage, and bless the devotee with the strength to overcome ‘impossible’ issues.
Discovered from Ramcharitmanas by Goswami Tulsidas, the holy path is the only chapter where the hero is not Lord Ram, but lord hanuman. The ‘sunder’ word refers to the mother of lord hanuman for him, and the chant shows his wisdom, strength and success.
Devotees conduct the path to cleanse their homes, invoke protection from planetary doshas, and manifest their deepest prayers into reality.
To take part in the Sundarkand Path, you need to first purify your location of worship and put an idol of Lord Hanuman (with a Ram Darbar, ideally) on a red cloth pedestal.
Light a lamp with ghee or mustard oil and incense to invite the divine force, and then make a good prayer, taking a small amount of water in your hand and saying your prayer, known as Sankalpa.
It begins with an invitation to Lord Ganesh and Lord Rama, and then with the recitations of the Sundarkand verses in the Ramcharitmanas in rhythm. The vibrations can then be strengthened by reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and Bajrang Baan after the completion of the path.
The ceremony should be concluded with a Bhog of Boondi Ladoo or roasted chana mixed with jaggery, and then with a passionate Arati and a distribution of prasad to those in attendance.
Vedic Reference: The marriage ceremony is primarily based on the Vivaha Sukta from the Rigveda (Book 10, Hymn 85), which describes the divine marriage of Surya (daughter of the Sun) and is considered the prototype of all Hindu marriages.
