Satyanarayan Puja is a very popular and frequently celebrated Hindu worship. It is a prayer of gratitude and to achieve the truth, good luck, and the blessing of God.
Be it moving into a new house, celebrating a special occasion, or seeking harmony within the family, it is best practice to align with the spiritual truth. The following is a brief guide that contains the information about doing.
Satyanaryan Puja is an important Hindu ceremony mentioned in the Skanda Purana that honours Lord Satyanaryan. He is an embodiment of Lord Vishnu, who symbolizes righteousness and truth. The essence of the rituals is to live an honest and faithful life.
It is mainly performed to get rid of the negativity, to find blessings in the areas of happiness, prosperity, and overall well-being. Performing with a pure heart and intention ensures long-term abundance and family harmony.
Below are the serval occasion and days where Satyanaryan puja is mainly performed by devotees:
Here’s how the standard Satyanaryan Puja is conducted by the pandit:
1. Auspicious Muhurat: Beginning the puja in a shubh muhurat is very important. A pandit will help you calculate using the Hindu Panchang.
2. Puja Preparation: Clean up the area of the puja. Prepare a wooden chowki and cover it with a red/yellow cloth, and put idols of Lord Satynaryan and goddess Lakshmi.
3. Sankalpa & Kalash Sthapana: Place a copper kalash filled with water near the puja area. Guided by a pandit, a person takes a vow to perform the puja with honesty and pure intention.
4. Ganesh & Navgraha Pujan: Unlike other puja, Lord Ganesha is worshipped first to ensure hurdle-free puja. Now, nine planets are also worshipped to balance the cosmic energies.
5. Recitation of Vrat Katha: Sit in the quite place. Listen or recite the Satynaaryana Katha to learn the power of truth and devotion.
6. Aarti & Prasad Distribution: To conclude, light a diya to perform the final aarti of Lord Satynarayan and seek the blessings. Followed by these, distribute the parasad among all the participants.
Vedic Reference: The marriage ceremony is primarily based on the Vivaha Sukta from the Rigveda (Book 10, Hymn 85), which describes the divine marriage of Surya (daughter of the Sun) and is considered the prototype of all Hindu marriages.
